About us
For 15 years, Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Alabama has been in the forefront of youth development, working with young people from disadvantaged economic, social and family circumstances. The Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Alabama has actively sought to enrich the lives of girls and boys whom other youth agencies have had difficulty in reaching. We are dedicated to ensuring that our community’s disadvantaged youngsters have greater access to quality programs and services that will enhance their lives and shape their futures.

The Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Alabama is part of a nationwide affiliation of local, autonomous organizations and Boys & Girls Clubs of America working to help youth of all backgrounds develop the qualities needed to become responsible citizens and leaders. It is facility-based, employs 15 to 20  part-time volunteers, and offers daily access to a broad range of programs in five core program areas: Character and Leadership Development; Education and Career Development; Health and Life Skills; The Arts; and Sports, Fitness and Recreation.  Our club just recently won the Over All-Program Award for the State of Alabama and numerous other awards .

Today, more than 800+  boys and girls at risk and in need are taking advantage of the programs, activities and services provided by the Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Alabama. They benefit from trained, caring professional staff and volunteers who help young people take control of their lives, envision productive futures, and reach their goals.

Many of the children we serve do not receive enough attention from the adults in their lives; there is empty spaces caused by adults that are not dependable, sincere and that do not give or can give consistent attention.  According the most recent Alabama State Department of Mental Health risk factor survey, Our County ranks higher than average in the area of Family History of Antisocial Behavior.

Today, twenty-five percent of children live with a single parent, and over one-half of children will live with only one parent before they are eighteen years old so it is vital that we provide programs that connect children with more adults.    An increasing number of children are at home with no adult care or supervision. Young people need to know that someone cares about them.  Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Alabama offer that and more. Club programs and services promote and enhance the development of boys and girls by instilling a sense of competence, usefulness, belonging and influence.

Boys & Girls Clubs are a safe place to learn and grow – all while having fun. The club is place where kids can come and hang out and have fun and make friends in a safe environment.
